COMPORTA

Architects Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus present the project “Case a Comporta” as part of the Portuguese Pavilion of the 12th edition of Architectural Biennial Exhibition in Venice. Placed on the sand dunes of Comporta, the four residential volumes – two made of stone and two made of wood – are characterized by the use of wood and straw. The project perfectly represents the combination of local tradition, innovation and integration between architecture and nature. In the common areas, such as the living room, the wooden houses are placed directly on the sand creating a continuous landscape between internal and external spaces. Ghost and Gray Collections are featured in this project.
