The 3D printer creates thick molten lines of recycled synthetic material. As if the robot is squeezing out a tube of paint. The result is a brightly coloured solid chair. However, this chair is not built up in flat layers as in traditional 3D printing, but the line can now be curved in any direction to form the legs and seat. The moldable looking Chubby has a soft, toothpaste like appearance but it is in fact as tough as oak wood. The chairs can be used outdoors, but should not permanently be exposed strong ultraviolet light since the material and the color may change.
